SaturDaze.

Ah, Saturdays……..mine was a Daze….

After working all day Friday (we had a Wellness / on site health screening event at work that I had planned so I was there at 7:30 am!),

Goodie bags I made to give out: raw almonds and dried cranberries for a healthy snack attack :). Enjoyed these at my desk over the course of Friday!

..I met a friend for dinner at my favorite spot, after hot yoga. We had to wait a LONG time though.. it was crowded!

My Saturdaze started bright and early with hot yoga. I had to squeeze in my yoga, and errands all before catching a ferry home to the island. On the agenda for this weekend included a very important task of getting my licnese renewed, had to make it before the DMV closed!

But first, I stopped by the farmer’s market to get some of my favorite chocolate bread,

and Whole Food’s for an obligatory iced coffee (and free Saturday sample!)

Hello Turtle Brownie sample ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, got to the island, then to the DMV in the next town over and got my new license. Then it was on to shop for the dinner I made last night for our little Oscar viewing…

Just a few of the groceries, from WF: coconut butter (!!!!), baba ganoush, onion, eggplant, tomato sauce

eggplant and chicken parmesan!!! I love taking full advantage of a full kitchen when I am home!!

It. was. SO. good.

plus seconds and thirds ;)…

Loved last night’s Oscars! And the fashions.. what were your favorites? I really liked Scarlett Johansen’s dress, and Mila Kunis’…

And I was so happy for Natalie Portman’s big win – saw that coming!!!!

****

Other note-worthy mentionables of the weekend….

banana bread a la hayley, with white chocolate wonderful....times a million ha ๐Ÿ˜‰

Visiting Gaston yesterday!

Miss my boy when I'm away!

He likes to roll around on the ground and get dirty ๐Ÿ™‚

Now I’m back at school, sitting in my Persuasion class watching group presentations *should probably get back to that….* I have quite a busy week ahead, but looking forward to some fun things coming up too! Pretty much every day this week is scheduled to the max, but the end of next week, I go to Vegas with my mom!! So, stoked for that!!!

Did you watch the Oscars? Who wore it best in your mind??!

What was the best thing you did / saw / ate / made this weekend?!

Are you watching the Oscars tonight? What are/were you up to this weekend?!

Wild Ginger.

Keeping up with the celebratory / Birthday theme, Friday night my parents celebrated with me by taking me shopping then to a fun Birthday dinner at Wild Ginger, one of my favorite Seattle restaurants. The restaurant is Pan-Asian and definitely vegetarian friendly. Check out their menu! I have gone before for Birthdays (my Mom’s at the end of my Fourth of July weekend!) and it never disapoints!

Anyway, we got there for our reservation and I knew I wanted to order a fancy schmancy birthday drink…..

..and without even ordering it, the waitress placed THIS down!

ย

Lychee Martini - Free Birthday drink, hollah!!!

ย Cheers!

ย

ย ย Wild Ginger is known for their starters, so we each ordered one to share. I chose the asparagus wrapped shrimp which came with a dipping sauce, lettuce wraps and herbs… it was amazing!

Shrimp wrapped asparagus appitizer shared ๐Ÿ™‚

ย

For my main meal, I couldn’t decide! The waitress suggested two things, after seeing me pursue the vegetarian menu: she thought I would like the Buddah’s curry Bowl and the Tofu and Eggplant, so ordered me a half order of each. I also tried bites of my mom’s eggplant and bok choy and a bite of these rice balls that came with her lamb, which were also delicious. Look at all this food! Definite leftovers ๐Ÿ˜€

Dark picture. But delicious spread. Didn't seem to capture most of it! :/

The waitress also brought out free dessert (x3, one for each of us — chocolate for me, naturally ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) !!!!!

ย A great night with my parents! So fun to be treated to another fancy birthday dinner!

Oh, and Birthday Santa totally delivered!!

What’s your favorite way to celebrate your birthday — any traditions? Who do you celebrate with?

My Birthday, Revisited!

So, about my birthday,

It started with a great gift from my big!….

A handmade "21 run" sign!

The festivities continued with a group dinner….

...at the Cheesecake Factory!

Of course, being my 21st and all, I had to have a drink bought for me order a drink….

First drink of the night, the "bikini martini" at Cheesecake Factory. My 'big' sis bought it for me, so sweet and was delish!!

One of the best parts of dinner at Cheesecake Factory?….

Their brown bread! Love it!

Dinner was fabulous and the company, better. It was good to get some food in me, for the upcoming night. Also…..

...getting sung to and sharing their free sundae!

After dinner, I went to my friend Chris’s house, where he continued the ‘run/sign’ theme and made me a birthday shot. He is a bartender and knows his stuff….

"Birthday cake" #2 for the sign!

At Chris’s, posing with my sign….

It’s important to come prepared for these things ;)…..

Marc Jacobs clutch (again), phone and ID, of course ๐Ÿ˜‰

A little later, we headed out to the bars. I had lots of friends come out to help wish me a Happy Birthday…..

And lots of these bought for me!!!!!!……….

Free drinks....... this was an AMF, one of my fave mixed drinks. I actually sipped slowly on this and passed on some of the shots... whisky = no thanks ๐Ÿ˜›

More time spent at the bar.. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We left that bar and had one more stop to make before the night was over…..

We ended at another famous university district bar... but I actually didn't get a chance to try their famous Long Island Iced Tea. Oh well, still had fun getting down on the dance floor!!

and [(***Cough, yummmmmm)]…..

HE walked me home ๐Ÿ˜‰

All iin all, a very fun night! My night because of the people who came out and celebrated with me. I loved all the Facebook shouts, messages and posts, the texts and calls on my bday, but mostly getting to see friends that I don’t have a chance to that often anymore… I really felt special this year. Having drinks bought for you and cards and presents is great and all… but really to me, it’s more about the friendships and the memories you make together. Perhaps corny, but true. ๐Ÿ˜€

So while the ’21 run’ notion may be to drink as hard and fast as you can on your 21st, that wasn’t my goal. I wanted to remember my birthday! I did drink, and I was ready to go to bed when my head hit the pillow that night, but I didn’t feel completely awful the next morning. I thank slowing down in between drinks, sipping on the nice mixed drinks and nixing the nasty shots. ๐Ÿ˜€

Are you 21? What did you do for your last birthday?

Favorite place to go for birthday dinners? I kind of would have liked to go for sushi, but I had a Cheesecake gift card burning a hole in my pocket and I feel like it’s a good group place… bonus: those cocktails….. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Twenty-One.

I survived….(although probably becauseย didn’t even come CLOSE to making it to 21 drinks!)

Sign and all!! ๐Ÿ™‚

….Will report back!!

Tomorrow is My Birthday!!!!!

Less than three hours and I will be turning the big 2-1,

I cannot believe it!!!!

As I Facebook status’d tonight….

“Tripping out….end of an era….”!!!!!!!

So true!

Really ย excited for tomorrow. Dinner plans with friends at the Cheesecake factory, and then my “run” tomorrow night at campus-area bars.

Let the festivities begin…….

Vancouver: Recap Part 2!!

Hey guys!! How’s your Tuesday going?!

Only two more days till my birthday!!!!!! That’s right, the big 2-1 on Thursday!!!
I’m hoping to feel better by then though because currently I am not feeling so hot: sore and scratchy throat, runny nose, headaches and all……

But, back to the second part of my recap!! When I had just left off, ย I told you about the dress I wore to dinner,

I chose option B!

Dinner was at Milestone’s Bar and Grille in Vancouver. There were about sixty of us total, dates included and the menu was prix fixe. My date and I shared some amazing coconut prawns in a sweet chili sauce, I chose the spring salad with candied pecans, goat cheese and strawberries and then the meal finished with apple crisp with vanilla ice cream! Oh, and there may have been some of this as well!…

Blue โค

I have a weird affinity for blue drinks ๐Ÿ˜€

On the walk back from dinner (it had cleared up a lot by that time!) we stopped by a legendary place…….the original Lululemon!!!!!!!!

Did you know it started in Vancouver??!

We headed back to the hotel and later, out to a club where we were guest listed. It was the one-year anniversary of last year’s Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver this weekend, so the whole street was blocked off and everything was a party… I heard people out until probably 4 or 5 in the morning!! Suffice it to say, I had a really good time ๐Ÿ˜‰

***

The next morning came too soon and too early and soon it was time to head home ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I had a great weekend though, SO glad I went. I We all need more spontaneous “why not go to Canada this weekend” trips, don’t you agree? Sometimes you just have to say screw the workout / plans / stuff I have to do this weekend and do something fun, something needed for you (or me) ๐Ÿ˜‰

What’s the last totally spontaneous thing you have done… how did it turn out – good OR bad?!
