Back to Life, Back to Reality

Remember that song?

Sunday morning started very early, and was just that for me: back to life and reality. Goodbye blog friends, goodbye Baltimore and goodbye Fitbloggin 2011.

I was kind of dreading not too stoked to going home, since I have SO much to do
(read – finals, final projects, job interviews, have to find summer housing, etc)  in the coming weeks.

A few things made the end of the weekend and adjustment back into the school and work week just a little bit sweeter though..

1. Driving home from the airport, I was reminded (and pleasantly surprised) to see the Seattle International Street Fair going on  this weekend.

Tons of vendors, samples, jewelry, people and things to see and buy!

2. Finding an unexpected package waiting for me from my little sister!

Flying Squirrel Peanut Butter!!!!

Flying Squirrel was started by a group of college students that go to my sister’s college. Kath has blogged about it, and it really is amazing stuff. The Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed has an incredible ingredient list including peanuts, coffee, agave nectar, cocoa, salt. As I tweeted, I don’t think it’s going to last me long!!

3. A hot and sweaty yoga session, which felt sooo good after a few days off!

…and talking with a girl I’ve become friends with in yoga; she is a blog reader that goes to my school and said she recognized me in a bunch of posts from this weekend (and finally found my blog) – hi, yogi friend!! 😀

4. Reading recaps of this weekend by some of my old and new blog friends. 🙂

…and of course catching up on your lives that I’ve been missing! I was behind after this weekend!

5. Promise of a three day weekend next weekend! Hello, Memorial Day weekend!!

Might get a chance to see this guy!

How do you get back into the work / school week ‘grove’ after a weekend (or vacation) off??!

Do you have big Memorial Day plans?

I would love to go to Sasquatch or go see my sister, but I think my weekend will be spent dedicated to a final paper, babysitting and maybe an overnight home…. oh, and hopefully a little fun too ;)!

Check back tomorrow for a FitBloggin giveaway!!

It [Should Be] all Greek to Me.

After spending my whole day working,

I really wanted to come home, join the masses and go out to an annual Greek week foam party…… (oh, memories ; P)

Fortunately for my overall cleanliness/health/liver Unfortunately I have an important quiz tomorrow based on eight weeks of reading… with no outline or review sheet. So I am spending my night instead on the couch being somewhat, when not blog reading and getting distracted responsible. Doin’ work.

Joy….

Here’s to Greek week, take two…tomorrow night!

How did you spend your night? Ever participated in Greek Week?

You Only Turn 21 {Twice}…

Whewww, where have I been!?!

I meant to post last Sunday night, and never hit publish.. and now it’s Sunday again! Anyway….. I have had a good week!

Cinco de Mayo Thursday night…

Purple dress Express, Leather fringe boots Steve Madden, necklace BP for Nordstrom

Peach Liz. My night changed course when I ran into an ex…and we ended up back at the bar.

(My second Paris orientation meeting) and A spring formal dance Friday night…

Yesterday morning started off with a hot yoga session, followed by the usuals:

Saturday University Farmer's Market.

Walking beat driving my car. Especially on the weekends.Walking beats driving my car. Especially on the weekends.

Mandatory weekend Whole Foods stop for coffee and some groceries.

And last night, my twin friends who turned 21 Monday had a birthday party at a cool lounge/bar downtown. Their Dad threw it for them and while it was a lot of his/their siblings friends, some of their friends came out too, it ended up being really fun! (and an open bar, holler Daddy S! : P ) You only turn 21 oncetwice. We went out dancing afterso needless to say it was a late night by the time my head finally hit the pillow at 3 am.

Me and one of the twins!

Today I went back to the Fremont Farmer’s Market that I first visited last weekend. It is an amazingly large flea-type market with more jewlery/clothing vendors than anything else.

Fremont Farmer's Market.

Yoga again tonight and then catching up with laundry/school/my sisters, etc and all of a sudden the weekend is over again, what happened? :/….

Oh well, on to the next!

What was the best thing you did / saw / ate this weekend ? For me it would have to be last night (all of last night), a ginger/raspberry drink I had, dancing/hanging out with friends!! So fun. And doesn’t seem to happen enough. My Mom is actually out of town, in Cancun this weekend, so I couldn’t spend Mother’s Day with her. I’m glad she and my Dad are having fun for their anniversary trip though, and I did get to see her Thursday morning, I took w a break from work to get coffee with them on their way to the airport!

On another note……

Okay, okay I know pretty much all bloggers are obsessed with peanut flour and have been using it like woahh for everything from peanut buttery uses to oats to ‘frosting’, to cookie dough, to mixing with frozen blueberries, to making peanut candy, etc. But, I have to say….I’ve tried it and just don’t really like it that much. I know; gasp! I actually think TJ’s Better n’ Peanut Butter is waaaaay better, and can’t seem to keep my hand outta the cookie jar finger out of the better ‘N jar. Anyone else out there with me on this?

So I ask you: Better 'N Peanut Butter > Peanut Flour?!

Night!! ❤

Five Fun {Things} Friday!!

Hello lovely blog readers and friends and friends of blog readers ! : P

Hope your week has gone by swimmingly and your Friday is too, can I get a TGIF Dance up in hurrrr?!!!!!!!!!!

So I have actually had an up-and-down week :/….

BUT LET’S FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE, shall we?!!

*however, a not-so fun post is in the works and will be coming your way…some things I need to get off my chest so to speak*

But for now — Onward and upward!

My first ever “Five Things Friday,” I am going to share some five fun things that have been on my mind or going on in my life. Let’s spread the positivity!!!!!

  1. My little sister’s 19th Birthday is tomorrow, she is coming home from Oregon (where she goes to school) for the weekend to celebrate and for Easter. Tomorrow night, the fam has tickets to see Maceo Parker perform live at Jazz Alley ! I have been before, a few times actually, they have amazing food and entertinment, I am excited – it never ceases to amaze/impress me!!! I just love going out with my fam!

Maceo Parker, Saxophonist!
  1. Today is Earth Day!!!!!!! I know I have some fellow Earth loving peeps and Coffee loving peeps out there – go to Starbucks today, bring in your own cup and get free coffee!

Darth Day on April 22

  1. I have plans to try a new yoga studio tonight. I have done Yoga to The People in New York City long ago – it was actually what/where I really got into my practice, and they recently opened a Seattle chapter really close to me! Going to check out their hot yoga class tonight and get ma sweat on! 😉

  1. Yesterday at work I planned an event, second time we’ve done this actually, EMPLOYEE MASSAGES! I got two – free massages!! Holler to that!!!!!

And Finally……………

 5.       I have a study abroad orientation meeting this afternoon after work!!!!! Paris in the Fall, HERE I COME!

Also, it is Easter / Passover Weekend! What are you doing to celebrate?!

My aunt (Dad’s sister) recently moved (last weekend actually!) from Australia to the area, haven’t seen her for (2?) years! My sister, parents, aunt and her husband, and grandparents are having ‘Easter brunch’ Sunday morning – oohhh I need to figure out a vegetarian entrée to make!

Well – quite the ramble here!
My mind is kind of all ovah the place today!!

TGIF!!!!
Will be back soon!

 Lots of XOXO,

J $  ❤

What are your Five Fun Things Friday?!!

Any good Easter Vegetarian entree recipes out there?!!!

What are you looking forward to this weekend?!

Spring Break.

Back to life, back to reality today, yesterday, but I had a great ten-day spring break! It started with a wedding in Portland last weekend, Saturday night…

*remember when I went through the Portland train station when visiting my sister last fall? Took the train again last weekend, had a funny & interesting experience sitting with a Bachelor party that was going down, made some friends…

hung out with my sister, (and hit up our fave restaurants!),

Indian!

commuted from home,

Gorgeous morning crossing...I do miss that view

worked a lot bit,

TAO memories 😉

had a guest come visit, whom i showed around Seattle, and the island,

and finished the week with yoga reorganizing my room, hanging out and catching up with a friend and going to Susssssssssssssshi 😀

A fly-by week for sure, it felt!! This week will be a crazybusy one, full of trying to get in classes (but, already going v. well!) including FRENCH (<–back in the game language aftera brieft hiatus; a little scareed, but also excited!) work, my usual Monday sorority meeting and hot yoga, cleaning the studio, etc etc..

Glad to be back though! Looks like this will be a full quarter for me, but I am ready. 😀

What classes are you taking this quarter?

What did you do over Spring Break, if you get one?!

My Birthday, Revisited!

So, about my birthday,

It started with a great gift from my big!….

A handmade "21 run" sign!

The festivities continued with a group dinner….

...at the Cheesecake Factory!

Of course, being my 21st and all, I had to have a drink bought for me order a drink….

First drink of the night, the "bikini martini" at Cheesecake Factory. My 'big' sis bought it for me, so sweet and was delish!!

One of the best parts of dinner at Cheesecake Factory?….

Their brown bread! Love it!

Dinner was fabulous and the company, better. It was good to get some food in me, for the upcoming night. Also…..

...getting sung to and sharing their free sundae!

After dinner, I went to my friend Chris’s house, where he continued the ‘run/sign’ theme and made me a birthday shot. He is a bartender and knows his stuff….

"Birthday cake" #2 for the sign!

At Chris’s, posing with my sign….

It’s important to come prepared for these things ;)…..

Marc Jacobs clutch (again), phone and ID, of course 😉

A little later, we headed out to the bars. I had lots of friends come out to help wish me a Happy Birthday…..

And lots of these bought for me!!!!!!……….

Free drinks....... this was an AMF, one of my fave mixed drinks. I actually sipped slowly on this and passed on some of the shots... whisky = no thanks 😛

More time spent at the bar.. 😉

We left that bar and had one more stop to make before the night was over…..

We ended at another famous university district bar... but I actually didn't get a chance to try their famous Long Island Iced Tea. Oh well, still had fun getting down on the dance floor!!

and [(***Cough, yummmmmm)]…..

HE walked me home 😉

All iin all, a very fun night! My night because of the people who came out and celebrated with me. I loved all the Facebook shouts, messages and posts, the texts and calls on my bday, but mostly getting to see friends that I don’t have a chance to that often anymore… I really felt special this year. Having drinks bought for you and cards and presents is great and all… but really to me, it’s more about the friendships and the memories you make together. Perhaps corny, but true. 😀

So while the ’21 run’ notion may be to drink as hard and fast as you can on your 21st, that wasn’t my goal. I wanted to remember my birthday! I did drink, and I was ready to go to bed when my head hit the pillow that night, but I didn’t feel completely awful the next morning. I thank slowing down in between drinks, sipping on the nice mixed drinks and nixing the nasty shots. 😀

Are you 21? What did you do for your last birthday?

Favorite place to go for birthday dinners? I kind of would have liked to go for sushi, but I had a Cheesecake gift card burning a hole in my pocket and I feel like it’s a good group place… bonus: those cocktails….. 😉
