A Charming City: FitBloggin Finale.

Yesterday morning I attended a session Katy Widrick held, “From Hobbyist to Professional: Take Blogging to the Next Level” on building your blog / brand. She is so knowledgable and I learned a lot in this talk. From everything to domain names to how to build readership and put new twists on your blog, there was a ton of information in the talk and it was definitely a favorite of the weekend.

A group of bloggers decided later to take advantage of the gorgeous Baltimore weather with a walk around the harbor, in lieu of the last session before lunch.

For this Seattleite, I could definitely appreciate the sun and 70+ degree weather. Hello, summer!

Of course Julie and I had to stop for an impromptu yoga session on the water.
Lunch was followed by some more interesting afternoon sessions. First up was No Meat Athlete‘s “SEO For Fitness Bloggers” and Tina’s panel, “Blogger Responsibility: Where Do you Draw the LIne?” The blogger responsibility in paticular touched on a lot of (recent and very relevant) events in the healthy living blog world.. and got a little heated toward the end! Definitely left me thinking, and in a good way.
Insert operation “get some sun in Baltimore”, round 2:
Later, a group of us headed to Talara for drinks and appetizers.
Sangria was required for this group of food and fitness bloggers, clearly 😉

While Cynthia, Julie stayed to finish the food they ordered, and Tina headed to the airport, the rest of us snapped a picture outside, before we heading to our next stop – dinner on the harbor.
Dinner at Pizzazz was…interesting. Our waitress seemed out of it and according to the owner, whom we talked with later, they were short staffed. The service was really slow but I didn’t mind too much. We got free bread and pizza bites and cupcakes (which were gluten free and really good) and had a chance to see some friends passing our outdoor table on their way back to the hotel.

Hi, Tina!!
Drinking and dancing were on the itinerary after dinner. The group, (we were also joined by Meg, Megan and Katy!) headed to PowerPlant, where we did just that.
Fun times. Enough said. 😉
I was happy to find my roomies still up and packing when I got home. [I think it’s all our swag – no one knew how to fit it !] We finally got our roomie picture!

Needless to say, it was a very late night which made for a very early morning. My shuttle to the airport was at the hotel bright and early before 5:30 am, which has made today slow going for me – but so worth it. Hard to say goodbye to Baltimore. It was a charming city indeed, especially when shared with great blog friends.

Did you attend FitBloggin? If so – highlights?! If not, have you attended a blogging conference and / or do you plan to go to any upcoming?
Highlights of your weekend?

FitBloggin Highlights.

FitBloggin‘ continues!!!

[Just a few] highlights:

What has been your favorite part of Fitbloggin?!

Have I met you this weekend?? Shout out to the new readers / bloggers!! 😀

Cupcakes, Cocktails, Crab Cakes.

Those were {some of} the themes of the day!

I’m exhausted but today was amazing. FitBloggin this morning started with breakfast sponsored by Attune (berries, cereal, coffee and eggs), where I got to catch up with Wearing Mascara  fitness classes: a kettlebell training class taught by one of my roommates, Jenn from Girl Heroes, and Zumba – my second try!), panels and an expo. Lunch was an amazing spread of roasted veggies and paninis, which Courtney, Gabriela, Sana and I may have followed up with a (second of the day) trip to Whole Foods for a cupcake run 😉

Later, we stopped by the Expo – think  freebies of fitness dvds, foodie items (popchips, veggie burger samples, dried cherries) lots of coupons, earbuds, and took a few pictures in the photobooth set up.

After the final keynote panel this afternoon (“Blogging: From Hobby to Career”), we had just a few minutes to run to the room and change before the cocktail party.

The cocktail was great, but it was getting late and a bunch of us were getting hungry! We went to Moe’s, a local seafood place for dinner.

I was excited to try a crab cake – when in Rome Baltimoreget the crab cake?!! I got the “Seafood Trio” which came with said crab cake as well as Cajun shrimp and scallops, with a side of steamed veg. It was a ton of food, but tasted good. Unfortunately the service wasn’t the best.. but the company made up for the subpar restaurant!

Cajun Shrimp and Scallops, Crabcake, steamed Veg

It was great talking with Tina and Tina and Gracie and Theodora and Anne P more over dinner! Actually, everyone today was so friendly and nice – it’s been really cool to get to meet and know new people here!

It’s officially way past my bedtime (even if it is three hours earlier in Seattle!) The alarm is set early and we have another full day planned ahead, so I’m off to get some sleep!

Hope your Friday night was great 🙂

❤ Jac.

Plans for the weekend?

Have you been to Baltimore? What should I not miss?!

FitBloggin Kickoff!

Wednesday night, after an early wakeup, bus, train, (~5 hour) flight and shuttle….

I made it to Baltimore!

View of downtown from the hotel's pool balcony

Thursday was spent checking in (and meeting my new roomies!), exploring, shopping, hitting up Whole Foods and Yoga (!!) and exploring the city.

Registration and check in last night was a great chance to meet other the other bloggers and readers here this weekend. After a few hours of meet and greets, a few of us headed off to a late dinner at a local Irish Pub.

Not wanting the night to end, we followed dinner with drinks in the bar, naturally. 🙂

It was great meeting Matt, Jennifer, Amanda and seeing Sana again (we met at HLS in August) !

Three cheers for being young, unemployed Bloggers!!!! 😛

Today has been great — exercise classes (Kettlebell training and Zumba), more meeting and catching up with blog friends, lunch, cupcakes with blendz, an expo, giveaways, and…..

Much more to come!! Back to FitBloggin! 😀
